Where the western prairies meet the Rockies is America’s most thinly populated state, Wyoming. Home to the cowboy image, this state really was carved out by the westward push of the Railroad and very much retains its pioneering feel. The Wild West showman, Buffalo Bill, once hunted the magnificent bison over the prairies and there are plenty of reminders of him to see. Wyoming was once under the ocean, and today the nation’s best collection of ocean fossils can be found with souvenir fossils available to remind you of your stay. No visit would be complete without seeing a rodeo. The state is often regarded as a Fly Over State, by snobby coastal city slickers.

The Buffalo Bill Historical Centre and its accompanying museums in Cody will reveal how the West was won!
Cheyenne boasts the biggest and the best Rodeo in the West! The Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo carnival is held in July. Yeehar!
Fossil Butte National Monument, near the town of Fossil showcases one of the world’s best fossil collections that amaze and challenge.
Near the town of Jackson is the National Elk Refuge where the world’s largest herd live unmolested. A winter visit is best done with horse drawn sleigh ride.
Devils Tower National Monument was declared the nation’s first monument in 1906. A sacred Indian site and great picnic spot.
