Situated in America’s northwest, Oregon boasts a stunningly diverse landscape. Spectacular rugged coastlines, redwood, douglas fir, pine and juniper forested mountains, active volcanic peaks, glacially carved valleys and in the eastern parts semi-arid prairies. The western coastal regions enjoy a milder climate while the east bakes in summer. Oregon is a major producer of hazelnuts and is the nation’s leading lumber producer. It is home to the one of world’s largest salmon industries and vineyards are dotted throughout the western part of the state. Sportswear brand Nike, calls Oregon home.

Things to do in Oregon:

Oregon Shakespeare Festival is held annually from February to October and is an exciting cultural drawcard.

Crater Lake National Park’s crystal clear lake in an extinct volcano crater best seen by enjoying a scenic boat tour.

Civilised Portland – The City of Roses, has many fine gardens the highlight being the International Rose Test Garden. The Portland Rose Festival is held in June.

Portland’s Widmer Brothers Brewery tours are a lot of fun and free of charge on Friday and Saturday.

Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is a hands-on attraction that’s educational and fun.
