New Hampshire was a hotbed of unrest for the British in colonial times and became the first to revolt in the American Revolution. Apparently the people still do not like paying taxes as there is no state or county sales and income tax. However funds to support the states services come from property, interest and dividend taxes. New Hampshire grabs the world’s headlines every four years by holding the first Primary in the lead up to the Presidential Election. The New England state is the second most forested in the country and has plenty of outdoor winter sports opportunities, a favourite being ice fishing in the many frozen lakes. The states small coastal strip is popular with tourists and treasure hunters looking for Blackbeard’s buried treasure, believed by many to lay here.
