The ‘Western most Eastern State’ of the US is the former slave state that didn’t join the Confederacy in the Civil War, Missouri. Heavily populated Missouri, bordering eight other states, is considered a political and social bellwether as it’s perceived to be typically American with an equally strong urban and rural influence. Every election except two since 1904 they’ve voted for the incoming President. The All American sports crazy state is home to the nation’s favourite beer, Budweiser as well as many national sports teams. With a climate that is cold in winter and warm and humid in summer the state is ideal for wineries and many are now flourishing to the delight of connoisseurs. The states namesake, the Missouri River and the mighty Mississippi ,which forms the eastern border, attract many tourists as do the foothills of the eastern region.
