Home of former Democrat President Bill Clinton, Arkansas is also home to the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart. The subtropical state that enjoys year round warmth has a varied geography, from the mighty Mississippi which forms the eastern border to the hill country that makes up the west. Arkansas’ country origins are still very evident today in its accent, taste in music and the people’s outlook. The former slave state and member of the Confederacy was also scene of the 1957 Little Rock Central High School incident which enforced de-segregation in the nation’s education system. The state is popular with visitors who come to enjoy the natural beauty and pleasant year round climate and good old southern hospitality that comes with it.
